In India, we can’t really relate to the whole fall theme celebrated in the west, but yes, we love playing dress-up and participating in spooky-themed parties for Halloween.
We know Halloween is getting close, not with spooky and scary decorations circulating on social media, but with a flood of Pumpkin Spice coffee blends and recipes that make rounds. After all, coffee lovers like us have a selective attention span towards all thing’s coffee only.
Everyone’s go-to recipe in this season is a nice and warm Pumpkin Spice latte, which is perfect for the whole autumn weather. But we tried a cold beverage this year and it turned out great, meet the Pumpkin Spice Frappe by Coffeeza.
To make this scrumptious beverage, you will need fresh pumpkin puree (very important for an authentic pumpkin flavour), milk, ice, brown sugar, whipped cream and pumpkin spice (it’s a pretty simple spice made with equal parts of ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cloves). We prefer using the Cremoso blend for this recipe because it is strong and can stand amongst the strong flavours of other ingredients, and it lends a smooth and creamy texture to the beverage.
Begin with brewing 2 espresso shots and leave it to cool. In a blender, add the pumpkin puree (4 tbsp), brown sugar (2 tbsp), pumpkin spice (2 tbsp), milk (~60ml) and ice cubes. Blend all these ingredients, until smooth. In a tall milkshake glass, add the cooled espresso and the iced pumpkin mixture. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle a bit of pumpkin spice over the top.
